Guess Who's Praying For You?

Guess Who's Praying For You?

Do a deep work in me, O Lord. Deeper than I can see.

I recently sat in my car (my prayer closet) and prayed, connecting with my Savior. My mind flitted from one thing to another, making it almost impossible to shift my focus to Him.

It's easy to do my dutiful daily Bible reading and prayer. It's much more difficult to spend enough time to allow Him to do a deep work in me. My prayers are a really good snapshot of how deep I am. I always pray that he will guide me, teach me, forgive me, cause me to grow. All good and necessary prayers. But I pray about what I see. He prays for me about what I can't see. He intercedes for me. When I'm in that place where all distractions are set aside, where finally I press in close to Him, where I walk right up to Him and bow low in awe and He then holds me. Then I can begin to join Him in the prayers that He prays for me.

"Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us." (Romans 8:34)

He, Jesus, is interceding for you!!!

What does that mean?

The dictionary definition says, "to act or interpose in behalf of someone in difficulty or trouble, as by pleading or petition:"
Jesus is at the right hand of God acting, pleading and petitioning for you and for me. The Word says it so you better start believing it!

And God the Father listens to God the Son. What amazing love!

What kind of prayers does Jesus pray for us? I suspect that many times He prays the same prayers that Paul prayed for us:

”For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:14‭-‬19)

“May have strength to comprehend the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge," Wow!

”That you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Wow again!

I had been fasting for two days during this time of deep reflection. I can't quite define what happened to me during that time other than a refining process. As if the gunk deep inside had been stirred up enough to cause it to rise to the surface. And there, the Creator gently skimmed it away. What it was, I'm not sure. But I sensed the stirring and the somewhat discomfort of something in me that ought not to be. He's the One that did the interceding and He's the One that did the cleansing.

What a privilege it is to belong to such a Savior!
