If My People
A very good friend of mine just posted the following on Facebook:
Would you like to see God heal our land, our nation? I have been thinking about 2 Chronicles 7:14 for the last several days. It says, "If my people, which are called by my name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
Take note, this isn't written to those who don't follow Christ. It says, "If MY people . . will humble themselves and pray. If MY people . . . will seek my face. If MY people . . . will turn from their wicked way." We have got to stop pointing the finger, blaming others, for the state of our nation. It's time to humble ourselves, get on our face before God, and repent. As we do this, may He have mercy on our nation and bring healing to our land. -Robin Weimer
Join us and thousands of other Christians across America as we pray for this nation. We are in desperate times and as Robin said, our prayers must start with humbling ourselves, getting on our faces before God and repenting. If I start my prayers thinking there is nothing to repent of, God always changes that in a hurry. Whenever I humble myself and lay prostrate before God, awareness of my sinful state increases in the Presence of His Holiness.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!” (Psalm 139:23-24)
Fear, lack of faith, complaining, grumbling, pride, selfishness, a critical spirit, gossip, anger, unkindness, impatience, bitterness, vengeance. All of these sins come to mind. But don't wallow. Be fully determined that with God’s help you will turn from your sin. Then receive the forgiveness that He so freely gives. Stand strong in Him and keep praying for His powerful hand to be at work in this hurting country.
And remember…
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. (Psalm 46:1-7)
