Introvert. Extrovert. Extroverted introvert. Introverted extrovert. Which are you? It’s complicated.

I think I’m an extroverted introvert. I’m outgoing and friendly. I love talking to people, even total strangers. But, I love being alone. I recharge from being alone, not from being with people.

I was having this discussion with friends the other day and after making the statement that I loved being alone, I realized that I’m never really alone. Alone for me simply means no people. No people means I get to connect with God on a deeper, more intimate level. It’s that connection that recharges me.

We are all created to be in fellowship with God. In a deep, soul-satisfying relationship with the Lover of our soul. Without it we are adrift. We’re not whole.

The Bible says we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Think about the Old Testament temple. There was an outer court which was open to anyone, an inner court for only Israelites, and the Holy of Holies where only the High Priest could enter to meet with God.

It’s as if we too, have these layers of entrance to our deepest part. The outer court is where we allow almost anyone to have access. The inner court is reserved for our closest family and friends. But the Holy of Holies? That’s where we meet with God. He is always present with us in every layer of our experiences and our relationships. But until you can enter into that sacred place where it’s just Him and you, you can’t fully taste His Glory, His Goodness, His Holiness, His Love.

So whether you are an extrovert, an introvert, or any combination, it doesn’t really matter. It doesnt change the fact that you were designed to be in deep fellowship with your Maker and it doesn’t change the fact that He’s continually beckoning you to enter.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

(Matthew 11:28‭-‬30)

"But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified."

"Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water."

(Hebrews 10:12‭-‬14‭, ‬19‭-‬22)
